Beth and David's story

After getting married, we found we couldn't conceive and decided instead to focus on a life filled with adventure. Our lifestyle involved extensive travel because of David's job, and we enjoyed experiencing new countries together. During lockdown we returned to the UK to help care for our nephews. Their absence afterwards made us realise how much we yearned for children of our own. That led us to consider adoption.
We consulted with three different agencies and had mixed experiences. Jigsaw stood out for its honesty and accessibility. Conversations with their manager gave us a clear understanding of what was possible. The assessment process was challenging but well-explained. We treated our paperwork like a weekly school project and learned a great deal in the process.
Meeting our little gang
Despite being nervous to the point of stumbling over our words, our panel went smoothly. Within six weeks, we were shown profiles of the children destined to become ours. Things did slow down, but we later understood the intricacies happening behind the scenes. Our social worker was invaluable in keeping us informed and helping us prepare.
After our matching panel, we watched our future children play outside, unaware of our presence. Our hearts swelled. Two weeks later, we met our sons — aged 2.5, 4, and 5, whom we affectionately call our little gang. They squabble occasionally, but their sibling bond is incredibly strong.
“Six months on, we occasionally miss our spontaneous weekend getaways — but we can't envision life without our family.”
David is eager to take the children dinghy sailing as they get older. They're wonderful kids, and we love them immensely.
